  2. Upgrading from V.5 (1.0?) of MUBBS:
  3.  
  4. Save the archived V1.1.2 just incase something gets screwed up here...
  5.  
  6. START WITH V1.1.2 FOLDER AS-IS AND REPLACE ONLY WHAT I TELL YOU!
  7.  
  8. DO NOT INSTALL ANY *OLD* MODULES! Duplicate the ones supplied here!
  9. (IE: copy, paste & rename the discussions sections supplied here)

  11. 1. E-Mail may not be compatable, you should SAVE your old "E-Mail.data"
  12. file incase someone writes you and says there was something important
  13. in there. Just use the new "blank" files that came with V1.1.
  14.  
  15. 2. The files section is compatable, ONLY replace the "files" folder
  16. with your old one. If you or a user UPLOADS a file, the "last20"
  17. (list of the last 20 uploads) will be automaticly created. You
  18. will get "error file not available" until someone uploads, it's not
  19. a big deal. (if you want, you can just take the "blank" last20 file
  20. from the archive and place it in the "files" folder).

  22.    NOTE: You can now have a "description" printed before a directory
  23.          list. Just put a file called "dirdes.txt" in the directory's
  24.          folder. (if it's not there, the system prints nothing)

  26. 3. The userlist is compatable, replace it.
  27.  
  28. 4. Discussions is compatable, replace the folder. Install your
  29. "dismenu" files into the "menus" folder. (see note below)
  30. USE THE NEW DISCUSSIONS MODULES THAT ARE SUPPLIED WITH THIS VERSION!

  32. 5. Install your "menu" files into the "menus" folder.
  33.  
  34.    NOTE: The old "menu1.txt" is now called "menu1.lang0" for
  35.          "language = 0", the ".ansi" files are now ".lang1".
  36.          SAME THING FOR DISCUSSIONS "MENU" FILES!
  37.          Rename your "discussions" and "menu" files accordingly.

  39. 6. BBS list is compatable, replace the folder.
  40.  
  41. 7. Move YOUR "modems" file (in the "bbssupport" folder) and REPLACE
  42. the "modems" file in V1.1 so that YOUR modem strings are now used. You
  43. can also move these files into the "bbssupport" folder to update them:
  44.  
  45.     bulletins.txt
  46.     newuser?.txt (all of the new user text files)
  47.     systemstartup.txt
  48.  
  49. 8. If you are going to add modules, make sure they are compatable with
  50. V1.1 ! Ask on the Support BBS if you don't know. DON'T ADD ANY "OLD"
  51. MODULES! (you should duplicate and rename the ones supplied)

  53. 9. Use MUBBS Tools to set up the BBS.
  54.  
  55. 10. You need the program "Userlist Updater", get it from a support
  56. BBS or AOL. Follow it's instructions so that you can use your old
  57. userlist with this version.
